SUPPORT
- The Aged Care Business and Workforce Advisory Service – provides short-term practical business and/or workforce advice and is available to providers until 30 June 2025.
- Rural, Remote and First Nations Aged Care Services Assistance Development Panel (SDAP) – SDAP provides free professional support to aged care service providers located in rural and remote areas (MMM 4 – 7) or who provide care to a significant number of First Nations peoples anywhere in Australia. It aims to help providers in 3 main areas – provider capacity and support, sector development and infrastructure project management.

- Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission ALIS – free online training for aged care providers and their staff.
- Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing – the Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing is funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care and provides expertise in culturally inclusive policy, practices and resources.
- Palliative care education – free palliative care videos to educate aged care staff on the topic of palliative care. Staff can access the training via an app or education videos for aged care workers on Vimeo.
- Trauma education – for staff who are working with older people who experienced childhood trauma in ‘care’.
WORKFORCE ATTRACTION AND MANAGEMENT
- Aged care banning order and register – a banning order made by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission means that a person cannot be involved in the provision or management of aged care. The banned register must be checked when any prospective key personnel including governing body members or employees are being engaged by the organisation.
- Migration liaison – the Department of Home Affairs has dedicated Business, Industry and Regional Outreach (BIRO) officers to provide information on migration. BIRO officers help stakeholders understand visa pathway options to help employers fill vacant positions where Australian workers are unavailable.
- Workforce Support Rural LAP – provides access to locum workforce and incentives for permanent placements in aged care services in rural and remote locations.

GOVERNMENT PROVIDER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (GPMS)
- GPMS User Guide – provides users with an overview of how to log in to the GPMS portal and outlines how Organisation Administrators can add, edit and remove users.
- GPMS User Guide: Maintenance and Services – provides approved providers an overview of how to manage their organisational details held by the Department of Health and Aged Care in the GPMS portal.
- GPMS User Guide: Approved Provider Notifications – supports approved providers to begin, generate and complete a digital notification form to meet their notification obligations with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.
- GPMS User Guide: Governing Body Determinations – aims to support approved providers to begin, generate and complete a digital application for a governing body determination from the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

Home Care
COMMONWEALTH HOME SUPPORT PROGRAM
CHSP provides entry-level support for older people who need some help to stay at home.
- Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) wellness and reablement resources – a collection of practical guides and tools for CHSP providers to help you embed wellness and reablement approaches into service delivery.
HOME CARE PACKAGES
The Home Care Package Program aims to help older people live safely and independently at home for longer. HCPs are aimed at people who have more complex care needs.
NATIONAL ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER FLEXIBLE AGED CARE PROGRAM (NATSIFACP)
This program provides culturally appropriate aged care to older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The service providers in this program deliver a mix of aged care services, mainly in rural and remote areas.
SHORT-TERM RESTORATIVE CARE
The STRC Programme provides services to older people for up to 8 weeks to help them delay or avoid long-term care.
SUPPORT AT HOME PROGRAM
The “Support at Home” program consolidates existing programs and provides a streamlined system for accessing necessary support like personal care, meals, transport, home modifications, and social connection services, all tailored to individual needs. Commences 1 July 2025, replacing HCP and STRC.

- Beyond Blue – mental health support
- Council on the ageing (COTA) – promoting, improving and protecting the wellbeing of older people in Australia as citizens and consumers.
- Live up – where older people can learn about healthy ageing, get assistive product suggestions, and discover local activities near them.
- Meaningful Ageing – the national peak body for championing the spiritual care and emotional well-being of older people receiving care in residential and community aged care settings.

- Continence Aid Payment Scheme (CAPS) – provides a payment to help with some of the costs of continence products.
